The short version: YUHI has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and we don't keep any personal data. Sun and moon times are calculated on your device, and Ask YUHI answers on your device with Apple Intelligence.
This policy covers the YUHI app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch (“YUHI”, “the app”) and this website, www.getyuhi.com. YUHI is made by Zia Abdullah (“we”, “us”).
Information we collect
None. The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or tracking software from us or anyone else, and it doesn't send anything to a server of ours.
Your location
YUHI uses your location to calculate sunrise, sunset, golden hour, twilight and moon times where you are. This happens entirely on your device.
- By default YUHI asks for location only while you use the app.
- You can change this at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › YUHI.
- You can use YUHI without location access by adding places by name or by dropping a pin on the map.
- Your coordinates are never sent to us.
Ask YUHI and Talk to YUHI
Ask YUHI answers your questions with Apple Intelligence, using the model on your device. Your questions and the answers aren't sent to us or to anyone else. On devices without Apple Intelligence, Ask YUHI isn't available.
When you talk to YUHI, the app uses your microphone and speech recognition only while the conversation is open, and only after you give permission. Speech is turned into text on your device. Your voice isn't recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
Weather
The weather forecast and “good light” score use Apple's WeatherKit. To get a forecast, the app sends an approximate location to Apple through Apple's own framework. We don't receive this information. Apple's handling of it is covered by Apple's privacy policy; weather data is provided by Apple Weather.
Places search and maps
When you search for a city or view a map, the app uses Apple's MapKit. Search text is processed by Apple to return results. We don't receive it.
iCloud sync
Your saved places and alerts sync between your devices through your own iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database). This data is stored by Apple, encrypted, and is only accessible to you. We can't see it. You can turn sync off in iOS Settings › [your name] › iCloud.
Notifications
Alerts like “20 minutes before sunset” are scheduled locally on your device. They're not sent through any server of ours.
Siri, Shortcuts, Spotlight and widgets
These features use Apple's on-device system frameworks. Requests you make through Siri are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
Apple Health
YUHI can suggest time in the sunlight based on the State of Mind entries you log in Apple Health. This is off until you turn on Sunlight suggestions in YUHI's Settings and give permission. YUHI only reads State of Mind entries, never writes to Health, and processes them on your device only. Health data is never sent to us, used for advertising or shared with anyone. You can turn the feature off in YUHI's Settings, or remove access in the Health app.
This website
www.getyuhi.com is a static website hosted by Vercel. It uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts, and loads its fonts from this site rather than from a third party. The live sky at the top of the home page is calculated in your browser for Kyoto, Japan. It doesn't ask for or use your location. Like any web host, Vercel may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability. We don't use these logs to identify or track visitors.
Children
YUHI is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there's nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete. Everything YUHI stores lives on your devices and in your iCloud account, under your control. Deleting the app removes its data from that device.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects how data is handled, we'll explain it in the app's release notes.
